The Night of Qadr

Laylatul Qadr is a night in Ramadan better than a thousand months. Its exact date is hidden so that believers seek Allah across the last nights with hope.

What the Quran tells us

Surah Al-Qadr describes a blessed night when the Quran was sent down, when angels and the Spirit descend by Allah's permission, and peace lasts until the emergence of dawn (Quran 97:1–5).

It is a night of decree and mercy — not a night for distraction.

How to seek it

Seek it especially in the last ten nights of Ramadan, particularly the odd nights, while knowing that Allah alone knows the precise timing. Increase Quran, salah, dua, and istighfar.

A famous dua taught for this night asks Allah for pardon, for He is the Pardoning, the Generous.

For busy families

You do not need an all-night schedule that collapses by day three. Plan realistic windows: Quran after Tarawih, a family dua circle, charity that night, and fewer screens.

Teach children that quality and sincerity matter. Even a short sincere rak'ah can be heavy on the scale.

Beyond Ramadan

The habits you build seeking Laylatul Qadr — night prayer, Quran, quiet hearts — can continue after Eid. Let the night change the year, not only the calendar.

Questions

Is Laylatul Qadr only on the 27th?

Many people emphasise the 27th, but the sunnah encourages seeking it across the last ten nights. Do not limit your effort to one date alone.

What if I am travelling or unwell?

Do what you can: dua from your bed, listening to Quran, charity online, and kind words. Allah knows your capacity.
